Women's Backcountry Weekend
We are excited to announce our Women's Backcountry Weekend, being held in beautiful Whistler, BC on March 9th-11th 2018.

We have many adventurous women on the Escape Route team, and we're always keen to share the stoke, encourage backcountry education and meet more awesome ladies to share some new adventures with us!

Thanks to the wonderful people at Mountain Skills Academy, Petzl, Gibbons and Arc'teryx Whistler ambassador Abby Cooper, we have an awesome weekend line up to suit all skill levels. So take a look at the events below and follow the links to sign up.

Discussing the 'yin and yang' of touring, Abby will present the good, the bad and when the good becomes the bad (anyone for some type II fun?) So come along, grab a can of Gibbons Apr├Ęs Lager, meet some other rad ladies and learn a thing or two for your next adventure into the backcountry. Sign up here.

Intro to Backcountry with Mountain Skills Academy
Saturday, March 10th
Meet at 8am at Escape Route Alpine Demo Centre

Mountain Skills Academy are offering an unbeatable deal on their Intro to Backcountry Course especially for our Women's Backcountry Weekend. For $50 per person (regular price $239) you can spend the day with a qualified ACMG guide who will show you the basic skills needed to ski or snowboard safely in the backcountry. No touring experience is necessary, however participants should be comfortable on ungroomed blue/intermediate runs. Avalanche safety gear will be provided from our Alpine Demo Centre, and we also have a limited number of demo splitboards and skis available, so don't delay in signing up here! ($50 price will be shown when March 10th is selected as the date - you can also call Mountain Skills Academy on 604-938-9242 to book)

Intro to Crevasse Rescue
Saturday, March 10th 7pm-9pm
Escape Route Alpine Demo Centre

Looking for bigger lines in the backcountry? Glacier travel can be an essential part of reaching steeper and more technical slopes, and a common danger is the prevalence of crevasses. Ross Mailloux of Petzl will give us an introduction to crevasse rescue and demonstrate the Petzl RAD Kit in action. For ladies looking to develop more advanced skills in the backcountry, this is the night for you. Sign up here.

Backcountry Buddies
Sunday, March 11th
Meet at 8am at Escape Route Alpine Demo Centre

Meet your friends at our Alpine Demo Centre to start your day of touring. Join our new Backcountry Buddies Facebook group to meet new adventure buddies and plan your trip. Check in at our store on Facebook on Sunday morning and one lucky winner will receive a free ski or splitboard rental!
