Press Release: Escape Route and Electric Mountain Bikes
The Escape Route has supported backcountry travel in the Sea to Sky Corridor for close to 30 years by way of ski touring, climbing, and mountaineering. With electric power assist bike technology growing by leaps and bounds over recent years, it’s become a new favorite for adventurers in the Sea to Sky Corridor. As a company that has always supported innovation and exploration, Escape Route has expanded its offerings to include Electric Mountain Bike rentals and guided tours.
“It is environmentally friendly, accessible, and a ton of fun. We are really looking forward to helping showcase our spectacular corridor” says The Escape Route owner, James Retty.
The Escape Route will offer 3 hour guided tours to tourists, increasing their perspective of the Valley and adding value to their Whistler experience. They will also be able to rent electric mountain bikes (E Mtb) for day use on designated trails. The Escape Route staff will be focused on educating their patrons what trails E Mtbs are allowed on, and where to avoid, to support sustainable use and access.
“Understanding where and how to use these tools will be an important part of our message. WORCA has done a ton for the local cycling community and we plan on working with them to manage this new user group. Escape Route, Commencal, and Ohm Cycles are donating a portion of every E Mtb rental to the WORCA Trail builders to do our part to protect and enhance the riding experience in Whistler. We call this our Bucks for Builders program.” – James Retty
All tours and rentals will happen out of the Alpine Demo Centre located in the St. Andrews house located in Sundial Place. You can read more about our guided tours on our blog here.
